Have your say on Wirral’s Youth Services

wirral youth workers

It’s time to have your say on Wirral’s Youth Services. Soaring inflation and national economic pressures have seriously affected Wirral Council’s budget setting for 2023-24.

Like other councils across the country, Wirral is seeing the costs of providing services increase at the same time as demands for those council services are going up.

Due to factors including rapidly rising inflation and energy costs and increasing demand for services it is not possible to provide the maximum level of frontline services within the current budget.

Wirral’s Children’s Services provide a wide range of services focused on helping families bring up children in
safe, happy, and secure environments.

Although there is a legal duty to provide some of these services, others are discretionary, meaning they do not legally have to be delivered.  However, we do recognise the importance of these services, and what they mean to our communities.

These proposals could look to find savings through reducing the current Youth Provision service offer.
