Free Digital Music Workshop

Do you want to make your own music WITHOUT having to play instruments?

On the 12th March Youth Fed are collaborating with Mako Create to run a 90-minute taster session that teaches you the basics of BandLab (an online digital audio workstation); taking you from creating your first new project through to exporting and sharing their finished piece of music.

Elements of the music making process that are covered include:

· Starting projects

· Creating beats

· Musical loops

· Editing and mixing audio

· Exporting and sharing a finished piece

This is a hands-on introduction to the creative process of composing digital music is perfect for anyone interested in creating music but does not know where to start.

All musical pieces created during the session will be accessible afterwards and can be shared with friends and family.

Who is this session for?

This session is designed to teach young people aged 11-17 how to create digital music.

No previous experience is needed to take part in this workshop, meaning it’s perfect for beginners.

We also recommend young people aged 11-12 to be supervised by a responsible adult during the session.

Scheduled: 12 Mar 2022 at 11:00 to 12:30, GMT

The session will be delivered online via Zoom.

Session Requirements:

As this is an online session you will require the following:

· A device (Phone, Computer or Tablet) connected to the internet, with access to Zoom.

· A second device (Computer or Laptop) connected to the internet which can access the BandLab website. We recommend using BandLab on either Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge ·

You need to register for a FREE BandLab Account. If the young person is under 13 a parent or guardian will need to do this on behalf of the young person.

· Headphones are useful but not essential if the device being used to create music has speakers.
