It’s Sophie Rose ‘Zillo Young Person of the Year 2023’

Zillo Young Person of the Year Award

Sophie Rose – ‘

Our Young Reporters interviewed Sophie Rose who was the ‘The Above and Beyond Award Winner’ and the ‘Zillo Young Person of The Year 2023’.

YR: Hello Sophie, thanks for joining us. We would like to ask you a few questions about being chosen as The Above and Beyond Award winner, and on the evening being voted by the audience as Zillo Young Person of the Year 2023!

SR: Thanks for asking me.

YR: This is why we decided you should win ‘The Above and Beyond Award’ –

Sophie has been an active member of Creative Youth Development for many years providing support to younger members of the groups. Sophie recently worked as a young mentor and peer supporter in the Café Create Project here at Pilgrim Street. Sophie has a very positive attitude to supporting others, often using her own life experiences to make her peers feel understood and cared for.

Those who know her will agree that nothing gets past her, she is on the ball, and she put a lot of energy into making café create successful. The kitchen was never as clean as when Sophie had been in there!

Sophie is an excellent mum to her son Noah and is learning to juggle her time to continue supporting everyone in her family and friendship group as well as focussing on her own self-care.

SR: Being nominated for the above and beyond award felt like all my hard work, tantrums and emotional ups and downs had been worth it! It has really paid off for me and I was dead grateful for the recognition.

YR: We were very impressed with the information given by your nominee, you deserved to win the award, well done. Tell us how it felt to be at the event.

SR: I LOVED THE WHOLE NIGHT. Everyone was smiling and proud of all their hard work. I felt very supported and cared for. All the nominees did a marvellous job and should all be proud of their hard work.

YR: How did you feel when they said you had won the Zillo Young Person of the Year?

SR: It felt magical to be honest. I never thought I would win as there were so many other amazing young people there that night. I was shocked but I felt like a princess, and it was truly amazing and I loved every second of it.

I loved going to the Geek Retreat in Hoylake, they donated milkshakes as a prize – a sweet treat in the Geek Retreat, they were delicious, my Noah certainly enjoyed his.

YR: thanks so much for speaking to us Sophie, and congratulations again.
